Professional Headshots Get You More Business:

4 Reasons To Have a Professional Headshot

When people search for you,
what do they currently see?

In a world where most people Google you before they meet you, a classic head & shoulders photograph is the new handshake.

A headshot is the foundation of your business branding. It is the #1, most essential, can’t-live-without shot to have in your branding image library, no matter what your industry is or where you are in your business.

Four reasons to book a professional headshot session today:

Reason #1: A headshot is the universal place to begin.

If you have a limited budget, or are just starting out with your brand and are not 100% sure what type of content you need or want just yet, an updated headshot is an easy place to start. It can go anywhere, match any context, and will give people the first thing they want to know – a clear idea of the sort of person they’d be working with.
This is important because…

Reason #2: You will use your headshot everywhere.

You’ll upload your headshot everywhere, across your:

  • Linkedin profile
  • Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.
  • Email signature
  • Business cards
  • Website:  Home page, About and/or Contact pages
  • Book jackets
  • Bio sections of any podcasts, local news, or other media that you are featured in

That last one might not be on your radar yet.  But if you hope to be a guest on a podcast or snag some local media attention, one of the first things they’ll ask for is a headshot.  You don’t want to be caught without it when someone’s giving you a publicity break.

(Of course, a headshot is just the first building block.  Digging deeper, communicating with your audience and telling them how your business solves their problems might required multiple photos.  See our Personal Branding options for more information.)

.

Reason #3: These days, a photo must absolutely pass the scroll test.

Here’s the problem you have to overcome:  When you’re scrolling through social media, if something doesn’t stand out, you just keep scrolling.

If your photo is of poor quality, people slide right past it.

In this day of information overload, people don’t stop for average…or below.  They stop when something catches their eye.  You want your headshot to do this – to nail the first impression, to stop the scroll, and make them want to learn more.  Like they say – you only get one chance to make a first impression!

If you’ve ever taken 14 selfies and deleted most of them, you know how small differences in lighting and subtle expressions can make a big difference.  We don’t leave this up to chance, we know exactly how to use flattering lighting and set you at ease for your best expressions.

The result is something that makes people double tap to learn more!

Reason #4: A photographer can set you up with exactly what you need for situations you haven’t encountered yet.

Did you know that, historically, headshots are cropped to be a 4:5 ratio?  But things change – Linkedin uses a square, and either a square or vertical works best on Instagram.  Sound confusing?  No worries – we will provide you with your photo in all three aspects – vertical, horizontal, and square.  Your favorite image will be ready for anything you need it for.

Also, a happy smiling expression is the typical headshot goal.  It’s how you would smile when you greet a client.  But maybe you’re using this headshot for a book cover, and want something more moody?  Or do you have a variety of emotions that you want to communicate to your audience?  We will discuss your exact needs, and set you up with a few headshots to be used for these purposes.

In short:  We set you up so that you have exactly what you need ready on your computer for whatever comes at you in coming months.
